In the scientific-production association “Grain and Rice,” where work is carried out in the field of halophytic mixed agriculture, research is being conducted on the propagation and seed production of high-yielding cereal crops, non-traditional crop varieties, resistant to local conditions and climatic conditions. This project was headed by the professor of our institute Zulfiya Sultanova, the implementation of which was attended by professors and teachers of our institute with academic degrees: Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor G. Jointly with Japanese universities, genetically improved promising lines of barley, triticale, mozzarella, chumiza, and safflower have been identified, reflecting efforts to select crops adapted to the local climate and ensure food security in the Aral Sea region.
On November 28, 2025, the State Variety Testing Commission under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan registered and issued a patent for a new local variety of winter barley Yantarniy-3, created by the project participants. This new variety was created through individual selection from an improved genetic line of hermplasm obtained from the International ICBA organization. The average yield of the variety according to long-term data in experiments was 59.2 c/ha, in production tests – 55.6 c/ha. This is 4.1 c/ha higher than the standard variety. The average vegetation period is 246 days.
