The event was held within the framework of the “Development of Trade in the East: Balkan Countries and Central Asia” project of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC), financed by the Swiss government. This project aims to develop the production and export of food products, in particular dried fruits, to the level of international requirements in Central Asian countries, along with Albania, Serbia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The main objective of the seminar-training was to bring advanced foreign experience in quality control and ensuring food security in the process of processing and exporting dried fruits to domestic producers, improve the production chain, and increase export potential.
Specialists of the Plant Quarantine and Protection Agency of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, entrepreneurs engaged in export activities, professors and teachers with scientific potential, and talented students took an active part in the event.
The seminar-training was opened by the Acting Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of the Karakalpak Institute of Agriculture and Agrotechnologies, A. Sayimbetov. Then it was conducted by the National Consultant of the International Trade Center, Professor of Tashkent State Agrarian University A. Azizov. In his report, he gave a number of practical recommendations on modern technological approaches based on international experience, important stages in the preparation of products for export, and ensuring food security.
For the participants, this event provided an opportunity not only to increase theoretical knowledge, but also to enrich practical experience, explore opportunities for entering new export markets and adapting to global trade requirements.
