In 1999, the UN Assembly officially declared November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and in 1950, December 10 as Human Rights Day.

Every year, from November 25 to December 10, that is, until Human Rights Day, a global campaign “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” is held around the world on a specific topic.

The UN has decided to organize this year’s campaign under the theme “Let’s Unite to End Digital Violence Against Women.”

In the modern digital age, with the expansion of the use of the Internet and social networks, security issues are becoming increasingly relevant. One of them is cyberbullying.

This is any form of online violence that harms a person’s privacy, honor, and dignity.

Digital violence is the humiliation, intimidation, or pressure of a person through the Internet, social networks, messengers, phones, and other electronic means.

In this regard, on November 25, a meeting was organized at the Karakalpak Institute of Agriculture and Agrotechnologies under the leadership of the Rector’s Advisor on Women’s Issues, Z. Mambetniyazova, on the topic “Let’s Unite to End Digital Violence Against Women.”

The meeting was attended by the chief specialist of the Department for Combating Corruption of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Karakalpakstan K. Yakubov and the lawyer of this ministry M. Sagindikov, doctoral student of the Scientific Research Institute of Family and Gender N. Primbetova, chairperson of the “Yosh Avlod” mahalla A. Kudaynazarova and women’s activist M. Kalzhanova. At today’s meeting, the guests who visited our students provided several explanations on the issue of eliminating digital violence, and the issue of eliminating such violence was discussed through a video prepared in this direction.
