History of the Department of Water Management and Land Use

The Department of Water Management and Land Use was reconstructed and merged with the Department of Land Cadastre and Land Use in September 2024. This department was separated in 2010 from the Department of Fundamentals of Plant Growing, Agriculture, and Land Reclamation within the Faculty of Agronomy and Agricultural Mechanization of the Nukus branch of Tashkent State Agrarian University under the name “Fundamentals of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.” With the restructuring of the branch in December 2015, the department’s name was changed to “Land Reclamation and Water Management,” and since 2024, to “Water Management and Land Use.” The department is headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor A.T. Jumanazarova.

In total, the department employs 20 professors and teachers, including 13 professors and teachers (Dzhumanazarova A., Reymov N., Akmalov Sh., S. Kodal., Aknazarov O., Tolepova Sh., Asamatdinov I., Kdyrbaeva G., Saparov A., Kurbanbaev S., Dzhaksimuratov K., Dzhumamuratov D. Kurbanbaev R.) and 13 assistants (Dzhumanazarova R., Kamalova N., Genjemuratov A., Zabidullaeva R., Kalimbetov Zh., Reymov O., Shimbergenova G., Kaipov I., Ablatova A., Abdullaev E., Khudaibergenova N., Khodzhaniyazova S., Robert A.), two foreign teachers on the basis of academic mobility (S. Kodal from Ankara University of Turkey and Robert A.V. from the University of Vienna, Austria) are working selflessly to teach students the secrets of knowledge.

The department operates modern training laboratories, including “Water Resources and Pumping Stations Operation” and “Hydraulics.” The department has established collaborations with institutions that facilitate the integration of science and industry. These include the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Karakalpak Land Reclamation Expedition, the Karakalpak Territorial Center of the Research Institute of Irrigation and Water Problems, and the Aral Sea Region Hydrogeological Field Expedition, Karakalpakstan Hydrometeorology Department, Karakalpakstan Pumping Stations and Energy Department, Karakalpakstan Pumping Stations and Energy Department, Department of the Cadastral Chamber of the Cadastre Agency of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Aral Sea International Innovation Center, Land Project Department of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the Uzdavierloyiha State Scientific Design Institute under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Office of the Cadastre Agency under the Tax Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the branch of the Republican Aerogeodetic Center of the enterprise of the Cadastre Agency under the State Tax Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and the UzGIP LLC Institute cooperate with testing enterprises of the Republic of Karakalpakstan on a contractual basis.
