The Embassy of Uzbekistan in London, together with the British Embassy in Tashkent, yesterday, within the framework of a special thematic session on education, the 25th meeting of the Uzbek-British Council for Trade and Industry (UBTIC), organized a ceremony for the conclusion of 5 documents on cooperation between British and Uzbek universities, specialized state institutions and companies that were developed with the assistance of diplomatic missions
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan Rustam Karimjonov, Deputy Director of the Agency for the Development of Presidential, Creative and Specialized Schools under the Government Amirulla Abdullaev, Regional Director of the British Council for Europe and Central Asia Richard Everitt, heads of a number of universities and academic structures of the two countries.
During the event, moderated by Ambassadors Said Rustamov and Tim Torlot, mutual interest was noted in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in training qualified specialists based on British educational standards, conducting joint scientific and practical research, and implementing exchange programs.
Thus, within the framework of the signed memorandums, the Nukus branch of the Tashkent State Agrarian University and the Bangor University intend to focus on projects in the areas of environmental protection, soil science and regeneration of saline lands, forestry in arid conditions and others.
In turn, the Medical Institute of Karakalpakstan and the University of Portsmouth plan to jointly train medical personnel through transnational educational programs, including “double diploma”, academic exchange, and joint laboratory research.
The University of Strathclyde has agreed with the Yeoju Technical Institute in Tashkent on the exchange of teachers, students and researchers, as well as joint research projects in such areas as renewable energy, decarbonization, civil engineering, and engineering.
Within the framework of agreements between the British organization for the development, conduct of exams, assessments and implementation of educational standards “Cambridge Assessment” and the Agency for the Development of Presidential, Creative and Specialized Schools, the partnership will be expanded to open Presidential schools in all regions of the republic in 2021, as well as to create a Center to assess and improve the qualifications of teachers with the introduction of British quality standards and STEM education.
The Uzbek State University of World Languages ​​and the Cambridge Assessment organizes joint exams to assess the English language proficiency of the teaching staff of the university and refresher courses for teachers.
